A RARE LATE 17TH CENTURY GOLD SEAL LOCKET The heart-shaped gold locket, one side with engraved seated cherub looking at a compass with the arrow pointing towards him, UNE ME TIRE (she alone attracts me) above, the other side with cupid holding an incense burner in one hand and a flaming heart and an alter in the other, pomegranate (a sign of fidelity) surmount, BRULAT IL! (he burns) above, concealed within the locket a double sided gold seal, late 17th century, with French assay marks for gold, in original leather and gold beadwork case, later gold chain
