circa 1749-53 Écuelle ronde, plateau rond, 2ième grandeur, of squat circular form, the domed cover with an elaborate finial modelled as a lemon with its leaves and blossoms between three floral sprays alternating with little insects picked out in gold, the handles modelled as intertwining twigs with applied flowers and leaves, the bowl decorated on the outside with two floral arrangements including roses and tulips, the interior of the bowl painted with a bird perched on a branch, the stand with a flaring indented gilt rim and decorated with three scattered floral bunches of chrysanthemum and peonies, a recessed area forming the stand ring for the ecuelle decorated with a single butterfly, its delicate wings picked out in gold, 11.2cm high, the stand 19cm diam, the stand with fleur de lys above and within the interlacing double L, the ecuelle with three dots below, within and above the interlaced LL monogram (some rubbing to the gilding, small chips to the rim of the ecuelle, minor chips to the floral finial) (3)
