A RARE YUAN-STYLE DOUCAI 'PEACOCK AND PEONY' MEIPING QING DYNASTY, YONGZHENG PERIOD清雍正 鬪彩瑞鳥牡丹紋梅瓶 sturdily potted with a well-proportioned rounded shoulder tapering to a countersunk base and surmounted by a short waisted neck with everted rim, the baluster body vibrantly enamelled with a broad band of alternating large iron-red and purple peony blooms below a pair of peacocks in flight amidst further peony scrolls, the foot skirted by overlapping lappets, all divided by classic scroll bands and veiled under transparent bluish glaze37.4 cm, 14¾ in.Condition Report There are minor frits to the mouth rim and a hairline on one side (approx. 30 cm) running from the shoulder to the body above the foot. There is a drilled hole to the base with associated minor nicks. Minor retouching to the enamel. General surface wear.
