A REGENCE ORMOLU-MOUNTED, BRASS-INLAID AND EBONISED TALL-CASE CLOCK CIRCA 1720 WITH ASSOCIATED LOUIS XV MOVEMENT The scrolled crest with a hinged glazed door opening to a brass chapter ring with Roman and Arabic numerals, with blued steel and ormolu hands inscribed 'PLUS' and 'MOINS' twice each, the center inscribed inscribed within engraved cartouches 'Les aguilles dorees Marquent le temps vray et Les bleus le temps Moyen' and 'Invente en 1737 par julian Le Roy de La Societe des arts', on a tapering case and scrolled base, the works to back engraved 'Julien le Roy', mounts apparently original but re-gilt 76 in. (193 cm.) high, 17½ in. (44.5 cm.) wide, 9½ in. (24 cm.) deep
