Donat plays Edmond Dantes/The Count of Monte Cristo in this adventure yarn based on the 1844 novel by Alexandre Dumas. Unjustly imprisoned for 2 decades, Dantes escapes jail and seeks revenge. Donat was an accomplished actor whose lead performances in productions such as Goodbye, Mr. Chips (1939) and The 39 Steps (1935), along with Cristo, demonstrate his versatility. Accompanied by a DVD of the film.
