A ROYAL SOUP TUREEN FROM THE SERVICE OF KING WILLIAM IV AND QUEEN ADELAIDE A WILLIAM IV SILVER SOUP-TUREEN, COVER AND LINER MARK OF WILLIAM BATEMAN, LONDON, 1836, RETAILED BY RUNDELL, BRIDGE AND RUNDELL Circular bombé and on four cast feet, each realistically modelled, two as a lion and two as a unicorn, each emerging from foliage and supported on scrolls and oak leaves, the cast branch handles with oak leaf and acorn mounts, with a foliage, shell and scroll heightened gadrooned rim, the detachable cover surmounted by a finial modelled as the Royal crown resting on a tasseled cushion, the conforming liner with two shell grips, the cover and body each engraved twice with accolé monograms, one within a garter motto, the other within a ribbon tied oak and laurel leaf cartouche all below a Royal crown, the liner similarly engraved once, marked underneath, inside cover, on finial and on liner, further engraved 'RUNDELL BRIDGE ET C O AURIFICES REGIS LONDINI' 15 in. (38 cm.) wide over handles 203 oz. (6,315 gr.) The monograms are those of King William IV (1765-1837) and Queen Adelaide (1792-1849)
