A Second War ‘Home Guard’ M.B.E. group of eight awarded to Lieutenant-Colonel H. L. H. Cremer, Cadet Forces, late Kent Home Guard and 1/4th Battalion, The Buffs (East Kent Regiment) The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, M.B.E. (Military) Member’s 2nd type breast badge, silver; 1914-15 Star (Lieut. H. L. H. Cremer. E. Kent R.); British War and Victory Medals (Lieut. H. L. H. Cremer.); Defence Medal; Coronation 1953; Cadet Forces Medal, G.VI.R. (A/Lt. Col. H. L. H. Cremer. M.B.E.); Special Constabulary Medal, G.V.R., 1st issue (Harry L. Cremer.) mounted as originally worn, light contact marks overall, therefore generally nearly very fine or better (8) £260-£300 Footnote M.B.E. London Gazette 15 December 1944. Harry Leslie Holloway Cremer was educated at the King’s School Canterbury, and was a Cadet in the O.T.C. prior to his commission as Second Lieutenant in the 4th Battalion, The Buffs (East Kent Regiment) in January 1913. Cremer served with the 1/4th Battalion in the Asiatic theatre of war from 5 August 1915. After the war he transferred to the Territorial Army Reserve of Officers, and advanced to Captain in April 1937. Cremer served as a Major with the Kent Command of the Home Guard during the Second War, and was employed as a Lieutenant with the Army Cadet Force from April 1950. He was appointed a Deputy Lieutenant of Kent in January 1952, and in later life resided at The Grange, Chartham, near Canterbury, Kent.
