A SET OF TWELVE GEORGE II MAHOGANY DINING CHAIRS CIRCA 1756-58, ALMOST CERTAINLY DESIGNED BY JOHN VARDY, THE CARVING PROBABLY EXECUTED BY THOMAS VARDY Each with a pierced shaped rectangular back with a serpentine foliate-carved top rail with C-scroll corners above a pierced palm-frond splat flanked by rockwork-carved uprights with palm-leaf cartouches at their bases, above a serpentine padded seat covered in red cut-velvet and foliate-carved rails, on panelled square tapering legs carved with foliage and husks headed by scrolled capitals and joined by fret-carved stretchers, on foliate feet, one labelled twice 'F76' and 'F78', with batten carrying-holes 39¼ in.
