A Shibayama-style silver incense burner Meiji period (late 19th century), signed Tomohisa Of globular form on a flaring foot with bracket cut-aways, decorated with chrysanthemums and paulownias in colored enamels and fitted with phoenix handles, the body designed with panels of a pair of doves perched on blossoming cherry tree, and the opposite side with a heron and irises inlaid with mother-of-pearl, coral and stained ivory on a gold lacquer ground, the lid with a pair of quails on rocks; signature on base 7¼in. (18.4cm.) high
