A small lacquer cabinet ( kodansu ) Meiji period (late 19th century) The small rectangular chest with hinged door, decorated in red hiramaki-e and takamaki-e with lobsters with long antenna on a kinji ground, the interior of the hinged door decorated in gold and brown hiramaki-e , takamakie and inlaid mother-of-pearl with seashells on a nashiji ground, the faces of the three drawers with stylized waves 3 7/8 x 2¾ x 3 1/8in. (9.8 x 7 x 7.9cm.)
