Lot 1131 A substantial 19th century Chinese brown patinated bronze vase and cover A substantial 19th century Chinese brown patinated bronze vase and cover, the whole surmounted by a boldly cast figure in traditional robes marvelling at libration while holding a cup aloft and a ladle in his other hand, he stands on a naturalistic raised rocky outcrop, the baluster waist with a tiger and monkey in shaped reserves, to verso with grotesque deities, the broad everting neck with a ferocious dragon, fruiting pomegranate and a phoenix in high relief, twin-handles, the whole cast with scrolls and geometric motifs in the archaic taste, meander key frieze to base, raised pad feet, 44cm high, ten-character seal mark, c. 1880
