A SUPERB PAIR OF WHITE AND BLACK NATURAL PEARL AND DIAMOND EAR PENDANTS Each pendant set with a drop-shaped natural pearl measuring approximately 16.50 x 14.50 mm and 16.50 x 13.40 mm, with a single and circular-cut diamond cap, suspended by a square-cut diamond, one from a black natural pearl measuring approximately 8.80 mm and the other from a white natural pearl measuring approximately 8.90 mm, mounted in platinum and white gold, circa 1920 With certificate 10291040 from the Gemological Institute of America stating that the black pearl is a natural pearl, natural color and that the white pearls are natural pearls In its purity, beauty and allure of romantic and poetical association, the pearl ranks among the most treasured gems of all time. The use of pearls as jewelry and their recognition as objects of value date back into the earliest days of history. Dedicated to the Goddess of Love, they have been rhapsodized in songs and stories, cherished, coveted and fought for through the centuries. The pearl has been called the Queen of Gems because once you have looked into the lustrous depths of a pearl, you are entranced forever. The pair of natural pear-shaped pearls in these ear pendants typifies this maxim. It is rare to find outstanding specimens of this size with such a beautiful luster and orient. Dating to the art deco period, the design of these ear pendants is characteristic of this style when the elongated, tubular look was very much the rage. The pear-shaped drops are suspended from square-cut diamonds and ear pieces, each set with round pearls, one white and other, black. Their luster is absolutely breathtaking, ready to complement the natural complexion of the skin and thus, enhance a woman's natural beauty.
