A tilt top table depicting two French Line Ships Anonymous (French, early 20th century) A simple table base with a hinged top which has been covered with a painted tin sheet depicting the Companie General Trans-Atlantique pier in New York in the early 20th century. Tied up to either side of the pier are two C.G.T. ships, La Provence and La Savoie , La Provence appears to have just arrived. In front of the two ships is a depiction of the French Line pier entrance bustling with people, cars and trolleys. In the background are variuos ships commonly found in New York harbor, including: a Staten Island ferry, a Hudson River steamer, a small motor yacht, tug boats, Hudson river sloops, and other details. At the bottom of the scene is inscribed: "FRENCH LINE/New York - Havre - Paris", and at each of the two bottom corners are renderings of wine bottles. 25½ x 37½ x 27 in. (64.8 x 95.3 x 68.6 cm.)
