LONDON, PRINTED FOR RICHARD PHILLIPS 1807. In-4° : xv-[1]-468 pp.; 21 pl. (foxing, slightly browned, 1 corner torn, some notes in pencil). Bound by Caldwell (Dublin) : threequarter calf, marbled paper boards, gilt stamped ribbed spine with title label (slightly rubbed, more on the spine).
FIRST EDITION of this travel journal with topographical descriptions and anecdotes as well as notes on history and art. Illustrated with a travel map and 20 aquatints in sepia depicting city views such as Rotterdam, The Hague, Cologne and Frankfurt drawn by John Carr and etched by William Daniell # Abbey 216; # Graesse II-54. Provenance : John Manson, 6 July 1900 (handwritten note); Lord James Butler (ex-libris). -- Eerste uitgave van dit reisverslag door Nederland en Duitsland, geïllustreerd met 1 kaart en 20 aquatinten met zichten van steden en landschappen.
