Young Author: Mitchell, Samuel Augustus Place: Philadelphia Publisher: Published by S. Augustus Mitchell Date: 1839 Description: Engraved map, hand-colored. 38x31.5 cm (15x12½"), folding into original leather covers tooled in blind, lettered in gilt, 12.5x7.5 cm (5x3"). Early pocket map of Ohio, first issued in 1831, this edition with revisions, including the addition of Toledo, which was founded in 1833 as part of Michigan, and then re-founded in 1837 as part of Ohio following the conclusion of the "Toledo War." The map shows the northwest boundaries as claimed respectively by Michigan and Ohio. Lot Amendments Condition: Lower left corner of margin torn off eliminating the "So" in Sold in the imprint, else very good or better. Item number: 289161
