the movement by Frerés Rochat, the case in the manner of Charles Bruguier, circa 1815, No. 21, fusee movement with triple tulip stamp and number to centre on top and underplates, rectangular bellows, the bird with banded feathered plumage in dark brown, purple, red and turquoise and iridescent green and gold highlights, moving head, bone beak, wings and tailfeather to continuous birdsong, rising through solid engraved gilt grille, bird-form underplate with good detail, blued mount screws, the lid interior with enamel study of a floral spray against lilac ground, repeated to the lid top on powder-blue ground set within oval and petit duet-baulé tooled border, the case with high-content gold colour, lid edge with opposing diamond ring frieze, the main top with geometric leaf and scroll fans with intermediate knot of rococo C stringing, all tooled with petit-point and textured detail, the shaped edge with curled wisp tooling, above central side band of diamonds, the indent corners with vertical diamond panels, and the underside with large cartouche of the lid design with cat's eye central medallion, on petit-point ground, hidden key compartment at rear, start/stop front-right, with a key - 3.1/2in. (9cm) wide
