Beschreibung:

Circa 1790, probably Canton Superbly and delicately carved at the centre of the open circular leaf with an escutcheon containing a coat-of-arms, within four circular and two oval landscape cartouches symmetrically spaced around the circle and dividing six smaller ones, all on a ground of elaborate scrolling foliage issuing from vases, the tip of each stick with a single upright flowering shrub, the guardsticks carved on both sides with intaglio landscapes and floral panels, the guardsticks 37.5cm (14½in) long, diameter of the fan when fully open, 37cm (14½in); the rectangular ivory hollow wall case carved with the same coat-of-arms at the top below a suspension hole, the front and sides with crisp relief birds amongst foliage, the back carved in shallow relief with dense leafy flower heads, 27cm (10¾in) high.
