A VERY RARE BRONZE TRIPOD WINE VESSEL AND COVER, JIAO LATE SHANG/EARLY WESTERN ZHOU DYNASTY, LATE 11TH-EARLY 10TH CENTURY BC Raised on three tall curved blade-form legs, the bulbous body cast in soft relief with two taotie masks, one divided by an inscription cast beneath the handle, the other divided by a narrow flange below a dragon mask on the neck, which is further cast with a blade on the underside of each pointed end, the fitted cover with a taotie mask facing outward on each broad side below the roof-shaped finial, with matching inscription inside the cover, the satiny black patina with some malachite-green encrustation 10 in.
