A VERY RARE GILT-DECORATED 'IMITATION BRONZE' RETICULATED CENSER
QIANLONG GILT SIX-CHARACTER SEAL MARK AND OF THE PERIOD (1736-1795)
A VERY RARE GILT-DECORATED 'IMITATION BRONZE' RETICULATED CENSER QIANLONG GILT SIX-CHARACTER SEAL MARK AND OF THE PERIOD (1736-1795) The cylindrical main body of the censer is well potted with four elaborate reticulated rectangular panels. Each panel is composed of a pair of stylised confronted kui dragons decorated in celadon glaze. The panels are reserved on a café-au-lait glazed ground and detailed with gilt floral sprays. The base is similarly decorated with eight florettes concealing the spur marks. The angular shoulder of the upper section rises to a gently raised mouth rim decorated with a keyfret band. The vessel is raised on four everted ruyi -head feet. 7 1/2 in. (19 cm.) diam.
