A VERY RARE IMPERIAL YELLOW SATIN BROCADE TIBETAN CHUBA MADE FROM THE YARDAGE OF AN EMPEROR'S CHAOPAO THE BROCADE OF EARLY 18TH CENTURY DATE The front-opening chuba tailored in Tibet from early 18th century imperial yellow silk brocade used for an Imperial chaopao and woven in gold and multicolored threads with a quadrilobed 'collar' enclosing four full-face five-clawed gold dragons leaping around a flaming pearl amidst clouds above wind-tossed waves and the terrestrial diagram, repeated in a band above the hem and on the borders, collar, sleeves and cuffs, the yellow satin also with damask dragon roundels, with an Indian woven plaid silk lining 50 in. (127 cm.) long x 82 in. (208.5 cm.) across
