A VERY RARE PALE GREYISH-GREEN AND BROWN JADE BOWL LIAO/YUAN DYNASTY, 10TH-13TH CENTURY The rounded sides flare widely from a small flared foot, and are robustly carved on the exterior with a single three-clawed dragon with scaly undulating body, long, rippling snout, long swept-back horns, finely incised, wind-blown mane, and curved blade-like claws, shown racing around the sides in pursuit of a flaming pearl. The interior is carved with two pairs of confronted dragons, each dragon enclosed within a quadrilobed panel, and the panels are separated by flowering peony stems that rise from a four-petaled flower head in the center. The semi-translucent stone has some opaque buff mottling and brown markings. 6 in. (15.3 cm.) diam.
