A Victorian 18-inch terrestrial library globe, Malby's Terrestrial Globe .... by THOS S MALBY & SON JAN 1, 1854 and with agent's label NEILL BROTHERS, AGENTS. OPTICIANS, &c HIGH STREET BELFAST the sphere made up of twelve hand-coloured engraved gores to two polar calottes, the prime labelled THE MERIDIAN OF GREENWICH , with graduated equator, the eliptic graduated in degrees, months of the year and sigils of the houses of the Zodiac, the tropic of Cancer and Capricorn and the Arctic and Antartic poles delineated, the oceans depicting trade winds and lines of variation and with an analemma and a large table in the south Pacific of populations of the world, surface of the globe, religions, animals and vegetables of the globe, the Arctic pole with brass hour dial, with brass graduated merdian sphere, the hand-coloured engraved horizon graduated with months of the year, days of the months, houses of the Zodiac and their sigils, and with azimuth and amplitude scales, mounted atop three baluster turned mahogany legs with cross-stretches ( reconstructed, cleaned, re-polished and one later stretcher ) to compass basin the paper dial with thirty-two points of the compass named and blued iron needle, on casters
