A Victorian Field Officer's Uniform of Volunteer Artillery A rare and extensive group of uniform of a Lieutenant-Colonel, consisting of: a Full Dress tunic with white metal buttons and silver lace, the collar laced all round and bearing gold-embroidered grenades, the cuffs massively laced and braided for a field-officer; a mess-jacket, edged and trimmed with silver lace, hooks and eyes and studs in front, the cuff-lace traced with Russia braid eyes above and below, shoulder-cords with badges of rank in gold embroidery; companion scarlet vest, edged with narrow silver lace and studs, the pockets trimmed with Russia braid forming crowsfeet; two pairs of blue trousers with 1in. scarlet cloth stripes; a blue serge frock with scarlet cloth collar bearing Grenades in silver embroidery, with metal badges of rank on the cloth shoulder-straps; a blue cloth pillbox cap by Hobson & Sons with silver lace band (showing a light of red cloth above) and silver-braided figure on top, complete with patent leather chinstrap and lining of quilted crimson silk; and a blue field cap, by same maker, with black leather lining and narrow patent-leather chinstrap, the cap piped along top edges with silver French braid and bearing a Grenade in silver embroidery.
