CIRCA 1860, ATTRIBUTED TO WRIGHT & MANSFIELD
A VICTORIAN ORMOLU-MOUNTED WALNUT, BURR-WALNUT AND TULIPWOOD-INLAID WRITING-TABLE CIRCA 1860, ATTRIBUTED TO WRIGHT & MANSFIELD The rounded rectangular top with a later gilt-embossed brown leather writing surface within a burr-walnut and fruitwood inlaid border, with stiff-leaf cast gilt-brass edge, above a conforming frieze with two frieze drawers and two dummy drawers mounted with laurel-leaf and foliate escutcheons to the key holes and either end and foliate paterae at the angles, on turned fluted tapering legs headed by laurel marquetry and mounted with laurel, lotus leaf and beads, on toupie feet and brass castors, branded '209', one lock stamped 'H&C' 28¾ in. (73 cm.) high; 55 in. (140 cm.) wide; 26½ in. (67.5 cm.) deep
