A VICTORIAN SILVER-GILT TWO-HANDLED VASE-SHAPED CUP AND COVER, the spreading circular foot chased with trelliswork and cherubs' masks, the partly-fluted body applied with foliage and cherubs and with foliate scroll handles, with everted neck and detachable cover with angel and cherub finial, the cherub holding a pearl in his left hand, engraved with presentation inscription to Victoria Alexandrina Cotes from her godmother, Victoria R, 10 Dec. 1840 , the reverse with Royal monogram and crown - by John Mortimer and John S. Hunt, 1840 13½in. (34cm.) high This cup was a christening present from Queen Victoria to Victoria Alexandrina Cotes, who married firstly Thomas Owen of Coudover and secondly Lieut-Gen. Sir Robert Grant
