A Victorian walnut Gothic Revival quarter chiming bracket clock John Moore & Sons, London, circa 1850 The substantial six-pillar triple chain fusee movement chiming the quarters on four gongs and striking the hour on a further gong, the backplate signed JOHN MOORE & SONS, CLERKENWELL, LONDON, 14714, the 8 inch single-sheet silvered brass full-arch Roman numeral dial with subsidiary SLOW/FAST and STRIKE/SILENT dials within foliate scroll engraved infill to arch, the case with three foliate finials to the ogee pointed arch top with arcaded C-scroll infill above the dial flanked by pilasters with foliate caps and pointed arch glazed side windows, on inverted breakfronted moulded base with further arcade infill to apron, on block feet, 73cm high overall. John Moore & Sons are recorded in Loomes, Brian Watchmakers & Clockmakers of the World Volume 2 as working in London 1844-81.
