A VIENNESE FLINTLOCK SPORTING GUN with shortened two-stage barrel with turned girdle and octagonal breech, the latter with thirteen gold-lined stamps including the maker's (Neue Støckel 736, 737), and silver spider fore-sight, engraved tang numbered 7, signed bevelled lock engraved with rococo ornament (steel refaced), carved walnut half-stock, cheek-piece, brass mounts of shaped outline including side-plate, butt-plate, and strap running along the spurred wooden trigger-guard, brass barrel-band and fore-end cap, and brass-tipped ramrod, by Christoph Ris in Wienn, circa 1745; and a cow-horn powder-flask with plain body and nozzle, the base with cusped border partly extended and pierced for suspension, the wooden base-plug carved with initials P.F within a red-painted border, late 18th Century, possibly American 33¾in. barrel and 13in. high (2)
