Officier de la marine russe impériale, Iuri Lisiansky (1773-1837) était le second de Krusenstern; ils partirent ensemble en 1803 pour effectuer le premier voyage russe de circumnavigation, le premier commandant La Neva, le second La Nadiejeda. Une tempête au Cap Horn les sépara. Après l'île de Pâques, où il ne put mouiller, Lisiansky atteignit les îles Marquises, puis Tahiti, dans la baie de Taiohaé, où il séjourna un temps. Il rapporte sa visite à terre et des détails sur les moeurs et coutumes des indigènes. Après avoir quitté l'île de Tahiti, il chercha en vain des terres inconnues dans les parages mentionnés par Marchand, puis mit le cap sur les îles Sandwich et rentra en Russie par l'Alaska. La reliure est en très mauvais état.
