(4to) 29x22.5 cm (11½x9"), 20th century calf-backed (marbled) boards, gilt-lettered on dark brown morocco spine label, raised bands ruled in gilt, marbled endpapers. First Edition. "Captain Forrest served for some years in the Navy and made several voyages to the East. In 1770, he was engaged in forming the new settlement at Balambangan which had been recommended by Alexander Dalrymple...The voyage was one of examination and enquiry rather than of exploration...but the tact with which he conducted his intercourse with the natives, and the amount of work done deservedly won him credit as a navigator."
