A WELL-CARVED ARCHAISTIC WHITE JADE VASE AND COVER 18TH CENTURY Of flattened ovoid form, the sides carved in shallow relief with a wide band of taotie masks set between a ruyi band below and detached scrolls and whorl medallions above, with a pair of mask handles at the shoulder, the neck encircled by two pairs of dragons and the spreading pedestal foot with a continuous band of scrolls repeated on the cover below a ropetwist finial, the stone with fine opaque white mottling throughout and some fine brown mottling and areas of very pale russet coloring, raised on a reticulated, dark green jade stand (minor rim chips) 10½in. (26.7cm.) high
