A well detailed and presented 1:48 scale model of the late 19th Century British century trading vessel Marie Sophie modelled by A. Brandenburg with bound masts, yards with foot ropes, standing and running rigging, stitched linen sails with rope bindings and reefing points, dolphin striker, applied gilt figurehead in the form of a maiden holding a lyre, catheads, folding anchors, rope coils, capstan, cleats, deck winch, companionways, covered hatches, belaying rails and pins, deck housing, two ship's boats in chocks with bottom boards, thwarts and oars, bilge pump, raised aft deck, deck lights and carved helm. The planked hull with planked deck, rudder, chain plates and deadeyes, carved bow and stern detailing is copper plated below waterline and finished in black, mounted on a cradle and set within a wood bound glazed display case. Measurements overall -- 83.5 x 118cm. See colour illustration
