A WESTERN ASIATIC BRONZE VESSEL IN THE FORM OF AN IBEX
CIRCA 2ND-EARLY 1ST MILLENNIUM B.C.
A WESTERN ASIATIC BRONZE VESSEL IN THE FORM OF AN IBEX CIRCA 2ND-EARLY 1ST MILLENNIUM B.C. The flask's cylindrical neck rising from the animal's back, a pouring spout emerging from its chest, 6¾ in. (17.2 cm.) high; a Luristan bronze janiform finial, the central tube terminating with human head, flanking felines either side, curving hips below, 5½ in. (14 cm.) high; a bronze finial composed of conjoined rampant felines, 4½ in. (11.5 cm.) high; another composed of conjoined rampant ibex, 6½ in. (16.5 cm.) high, all early 1st millennium B.C.; a group of seven bronze kohl jars, some with associated animal-headed pins, mainly 2nd millennium B.C. and later, jars 3¾ in. (9.5 cm.) high max; and a Roman bronze oinochoe with trefoil lip, incised concentric rings on the base and shoulder, the additional handle with bearded head terminal and openwork thumb-rest, circa 1st Century A.D., 6½ in.
