Watercolor on composition depicting the actor in a suit and tie, signed ("M.B.M."), n.d., in an oval gilt metal case housed in a fitted leather box with velvet lining, ("Mrs. R. J. W. Brewster") printed to metal case's cardboard lining. Together with a silver nitrate print, signed ("For Winifred Westover / From / William S. Hart") in ink, c.1922, in a standing frame; and two gelatin silver prints, housed in a double-sided frame. William S. Hart was married to his co-star, Winifred Westover, just long enough to have one son, William S. Hart, Jr. Westover's acting career was equally brief; she dropped out of movies in 1930. The signed photograph in this lot depicts a striking portrait of Hart; the two photographs of Hart and Westover depict them in a romantic scene from a film, likely John Petticoats (1919). Provenance: The William S. Hart Estate Box: 4 x 5 in.; oval case: 2.5 x 3 in.
