Beschreibung:

Abraham Rattner (American, 1895-1978) Ezekiel in the Valley of the Dried Bones, also known as Resurrection Signed "Rattner" in pencil l.r., numbered "139/150" in pencil l.l. Color lithograph on paper, sight size 23 1/2 x 35 1/2 in., framed. Condition: Subtle rippling, not examined out of frame. Note: We wish to thank Rebecca Sexton Larson of the Leepa-Rattner Museum of Art, Tarpon Springs, Florida, for her assistance with cataloguing the lot. According to Larson, the print was based on a 12-foot long triptych Rattner painted as the centerpiece for his "The Gallows of Baghdad" exhibition in 1969. Pulitzer prize-winning art critic Emily Genauer called the large work "one of the great works of art of our time." Genauer also noted, "In the dark lower section of the painting, massed skulls and outstretched arms reaching towards the burning sun, in brilliant yellows and oranges, is nothing less than Heaven on the Day of Resurrection, as winged angels blow their trumpets towards the light which is God."
