ACKERMANN, Rudolph (1764-1834). Microcosm of London . [London: T. Bensley for R. Ackermann, 1808-10]. 3 volumes, large 4 o (332 x 279 mm). Woodcut title-pages, engraved dedication pages by Robert Ashby and Thomas Williamson after drawings by E.F. Burney and Thomas Tomkins, 104 handcolored aquatints by J. Bluck J. Stadler, Hill and Sutherland after Thomas Rowlandson and A. Pugin (some minor foxing and staining throughout; small tear to M3, not affecting text; offsetting throughout). Later tan morocco gilt, with gilt border of scrolls and palmettes, gilt foliate centre motif and cornerpieces, by J. May, London. Top edges gilt. Provenance : ownership signature "C.G. Nicholls" on title-page (Vols. 1 & 2), front free endpaper (Vol. 3). FIRST EDITION. Abbey Scenery 212.
