Woodcut title pages, engraved dedication pages by Robert Ashby and Thomas Williamson after drawings by E.F. Burney and Thomas Tompkins, 104 hand-colored aquatints by J. Bluck J. Stadler, Hill and Sutherland after Thomas Rowlandson and A. Pugin (some browning and occasional light offsetting to text, some marginal worming to engraved dedication in volume 3). Modern half morocco by Sangorski and Sutcliffe (small stain on lower spine of volume 2). FIRST EDITION, EARLY ISSUE, bound from the parts, with pre-publication watermarks, all the errata uncorrected. 10 plates in Abbey and Tooley's first state, including plate 12, about which Abbey states, "if this plate in this state really exists, it is very rare," and plate 18, "the first state [of which] is far from common" (Abbey p.139).
