Owen, 114 hand-colored plates (comprising 64 aquatint views by Bluck, Stadler, Hill and others after Pugin, Mackenzie, Westall and others, 17 hand-colored stipple- and line-engraved costume plates and 32 hand-colored stipple- and line- engraved portraits of the founders of the various colleges). (Lacks half-titles, small repaired tear to plate facing p. 247, some minor offsetting.) 19th-century style red straight-grained morocco gilt, gilt edges; cloth slipcase. Provenance : David and Lulu Borowitz (bookplate, their sale, Sotheby's Parke-Bernet, 15 November 1977, lot 284). FIRST EDITION, plates 1, 50, 78 in first state, plates watermarked 1812, titles 1814.
