The rifle is accompanied by a signed and notarized letter that states: 3/22/92 To whom it may concern: The Winchester described below belonged to the late Ad and Plinky Topperwein, Winchester-Western's great exhibition shooters from 1901 to 1945. ...In 1944 after Plinky (Top's partner and beloved wife) died, Topp was given the job by Winchester-Western to find a husband and wife team to replace the Topperwein's. Ad picked Ernie and Dot Lind - "The Shooting Linds" - to succeed the husband and wife act he and Plinky had made famous. After Top instructed the Linds on the Topperwein technique, they represented Winchester with shooting exhibitions throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico. Ernie and Dot's spectacular rifle, shotgun and pistol shooting packed in crowds at sportsmans shows, fairs, rodeos, police ranges and military bases for more than three decades. Condition: Nearly all of the original blue finish remains on the barrel and magazine tube. The frame has a very good amount of blue remaining, with several areas of fading and scratching on the lower edges, and fading on the lever. The stock and forearm are in very good to excellent condition. The bore and action are excellent.
