**Ad Topperwein Owned Winchester Model 1903 Rifle

Estimate
n. a.
Price realised:
US$2,070
Beschreibung:

.22 caliber, 20" barrel, S/N 9378. The top flat of the barrel is marked with the typical Winchester name and address and 1901, 1902 and 1903 patent dates, along with the model and caliber. A Winchester proof mark appears on the top of the barrel at the breech, and on the frame. With walnut stock and forearm. The rifle is accompanied by a signed and notarized letter from the estate of Ernie Lind that reads: September 8, 1999 To whom it may concern: The rifle described below belonged to the legendary ad Topperwein famous Winchester exhibition for more than forty years. Ad remained on the payroll until his death. In 1942 due to the failing health of his "first and only wife" Plinky Winchester gave him the assignment of finding a couple to replace them. After traveling the U.S. and interviewing Ad selected the Linds (Dot and Ernie) to represent Winchester. The Linds went down to Texas to train under the watchful eye of Ad. During this time which was 10 weeks 10 to 12 hours a day. Ad and the Linds became very good friends and on one of there (sp) many trips back to Texas Ad gave Ernie and Dot a number of his favorite guns. Winchester Model 1903 S/N 93782 I confirm the above information to be true - Mrs. Ernie Lind (printed and signed) Condition: The rifle appears to have an old re-blue finish. The stock has some light marks, and is in good condition.
