Adam Buck (Irish, 1759-1833) Portrait of Miss Charlotte Snead; Portrait of Miss Mary Snead Watercolour, a pair, 21.5 x 16.5cm, (8.5 x 6.5'') each Bears inscriptions 'Charlotte Sneyd 1790 by Mr Buck' and 'Mary Sneyd 1790 by Mr Buck' on reverse (2) Provenance: Richard Lovell Edgeworth (1744-1817), thence by descent to Lady Colvin Mary Sneyd (1751-1841) and Charlotte Sneyd (1754-1822) were the unmarried daughters of the family of Sneyd of Byrkley Lodge, Needwood, Staffs. Their sister was the second wife of Richard Lovell Edgeworth, of Edgeworthtown, Co. Longford, Ireland, where they lived for some time. Adam Buck painted portraits of other members of the Edgeworth family, including the family group now in the National Portrait Gallery.
