Adrian Feint (1894-1971) Sketch for Susan in the Moonlight, c. 1944 oil on board, signed l.r.c. ‘Adrian Feint’ signed and dated verso ‘Property of Lesley Godden/Adrian Feint, 12/3/1951’ The Staffordshire dog appears in several other paintings including Still life Staffordshire, 1938/39, Collection National Gallery of Australia, illustrated Adrian Feint Cornucopia, Wakefield Press, 2009, p 82 and mischievously appears as Untitled (Tasmanian tiger) in a 1971 pencil sketch now in the New England Regional Art Museum, Armidale. Measurements: 16 x 12 cm Provenance: The Collection of Lesley Godden, thence by descent Labels: Susan in the Moonlight, 1944, illustrated in Adrian Feint Flower Paintings, Sydney Ure Smith (ed), Ure Smith, 1948, plate 1.
