Affidavit of Alfred Fosettee regarding the loss of a black horse and the ensuing unsuccessful search - signed by Francis Marion Gibson and countersigned by William Badger Author: Place: Fort Rice Publisher: Date: 1878 Description: Signed U.S. Army affidavit. 31.7x20.1 cm (12½x8"); in Optium Museum Acrylic glass frame: 35.8x24.1 cm (14x9½"). paneled with acrylic glass at reverse of frame revealing writing and signatures on reverse of leaf. Signed by Fosettee, Gibson, and Badger. Affidavit of Sergeant Alfred Fosettee, Sergeant of Co. A, 6th Infantry, who was overseer of the corral. He describes a runaway black horse and the unsuccessful 2-day search that ensued. The testimony was sworn before F.M. Gibson, 1st Lieutenant of Cavalry and William Badger, 1st Lieutenant 6th Infantry. Gibson was an officer in the 7th Cavalry who rode to the rescue but arrived too late at the Battle of the Little Bighorn. Lot Amendments Condition: Ink fading somewhat, folds apparent, a few stains; unexamined out of frame. Item number: 311891a
