Album of fifty-one Valentines in the style of Cloe Preston Author: Place: Germany & Elsewhere Publisher: Various publishers Date: ca. 1920s Description: [38] pp. Binder of approximately 51 color Valentines, arranged 1 to 3 per page based on size. Sizes vary up to approximately 8x7", with chromolithographic die-cut layers in a variety of types including beehive, pop-up, fold-out & mechanical valentines with pins & pull tabs. Delightful selection of various Valentine cards from the early 20th century. All rendered in the style of Cloe Preston, who was an English artist whose style was reminiscent of Fleischer cartoons or early Disney animation. While she did not mark her work, her style is quite pronounced and visible in many cards produced during the period. Due to the size and/or weight of this lot extra shipping and/or handling charges may apply. Lot Amendments Condition: Binder slightly ajar; varying touches of wear to Valentines, some age-toning to paper elements, occasional creasing or loose elements laid in, some repairs to pull tabs; overall very good.
