Bishop Berkeley's spirited defence of Christianity against free-thinkers, actually written during his stay in Newport, Rhode Island. It ranks among his most elegantly written works and attracted far more attention than his previoius publications. Pages [211]-358 in Vol. II comprise Berkleley's "An Essay Towards a New Theory of Vision. First published in the Year M DCC IX." Ink inscription to top of title-page of Vol. I: "By Bishop Berkeley Bishop of Cloyne." Lot Amendments Condition: Just minor aging within, near fine in fine modern binding. Item number: 169069
