(16 mo) 14x9 cm (5½x3½"). original marble paper covered boards, with gilt borders and gilt decorated spine, decorative endpapers, all edges gilt, original paste-paper covered slipcase. First Edition. An unusual and charming "petit almanac" intended for the young ladies at a time where French culture was "a la mode." Ostensibly published in Philadelphia, yet likely printed and bound in France. In addition to being functional, this almanac for 1802's contents include color plates depicting the latest French styles, astronomical forecasts, short stories, biographical sketches, poetry, and a philosophical dialogue. Lacking one color fashion plate and three portraits of Lavater, Washington, and Jefferson. Text in French. Scarce. Lot Amendments Condition: Lacking four plates. Slipcase worn, reinforced with tape, Some wear and rubbing to boards, front board detached along with some preliminary pages, portion of spine at heel lacking; very good. Item number: 281029
