Founded in Kiev in 1918, the Kultur-Liga was an important cultural and political association of Jewish artists in the 1920s and 1930s in Russia and other parts of Europe.This exhibition brought together three of the best known Jewish artists of the Russian avant-garde just a year before Chagall deserted Russia. It is illustrated with a photogravure of one work by each of the artists including Chagall's Muzikant [The Musician] (1918) now known as The Green Fiddler .
