AMBROGIO Lying in London S.E.1 Offered duty-paid, but available in bond Ambrogio Spinola--Vintage 1991 Piedmont. Castello di Tassarolo The wine offered here has come directly from the historic cellars of the Castello Tasserolo estate. The Spinola family's links with Tassarolo can be traced back to 1367 and they were once powerful enough to have been given the right to mint their own money, which they did until the 17th century. The estate was reduced in the 19th century to it's current holding. Ambrogio Spinola is made from Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon grapes, it spends 8 months in barriques and can last for up to 20 years. Like many of Italy's rising wine stars it has to be classified as table wine in this case Vino Bianco. A sample bottle will be available at the pre-sale tasting. 2 dozen bottles per dozen
