Lot of 4 stereoviews, including: Outdoor view of group of Indians posed outside a tent, identified in pencil on verso as "Nez Perces Indian Camp near Spfld. Mo." With backmark of W.S. Johnson, Springfield, MO. Even toning to images. Light soiling. Light wear to mount perimeter. Stereoview titled in negative, "103. Group Siouxs." On mount with imprint of "American and Foreign Views / New England Series." Showing 10 Sioux and 3 white men, one (back center in dark hat) reputed to be Cody's promoter John M. Burke. Some soiling on image and mount. With damage along lower margin of mount, likely from being in stereoviewer. 2 stereoviews of Old Bets, the Sioux Squaw who was "remembered with gratitude by many of the Minnesota Captives, for her kindness to them while among the Sioux in 1862." One credited to Whitney & Zimmerman, Saint Paul, MN, which identifies Old Bets as being 120 years old. Image tones remain rich, light soiling on image. Corner wear to mount. The second view published by W.E. Illingworth, Saint Paul, MN. Image has undergone toning, with some scattered spotting/staining. Corner wear to mount. Provenance: Property from the Inventory of Rex Stark
