A carved wooden jumper carousel horse in original polychrome paint, having a horse hair tail, glass eyes and metal rings for bridle, mounted on a later round iron base and post; oah. 46.5, approx. lg. 52, wd. 9 in., base dia. 20.5 in. Condition: Wear and imperfections as would be expected with age and use, including some alligatoring to finish. Chipping and flaking scattered throughout. Saddle seat with a higher concentration of paint loss. Loss to tip of horse's left ear. Slight separation where horse's rear right leg connects to its body. Cavity cut out beneath horse with a later support board added. Additional small holes on underside of horse from previous mounts.
