Manuscript document signed, a legal document in which George Brown is accused of being in debt to John Simmons and is ordered to appear before the court.
Charleston: 6 July 1787. 1 page on a single sheet (307x182 mm). Also signed by William Tate the attorney for Simmons. Condition : silked on verso, minor toning. Heyward (1746-1809) Signer from South Carolina, elected to the Second Continental Congress, served in the South Carolina militia as a Captain in the Charleston artillery, defeated the British at Port Royal 1779, captured and held prisoner 1780-81, after the war served in the State House and as a judge on the circuit court.
